USM Schools Tops in Latest U.S. News & World Report College Rankings
ADELPHI, Md. (August 26, 2008) - University System of Maryland (USM) schools have
been recognized among the nation's top universities in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report's annual
college rankings.
According to the 2009 edition
of America's Best Colleges released August 22, 2008:
- University of Maryland, Baltimore County ranked No. 5 among "up-and-coming" national universities;
- University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) ranked No. 18 among top
national public universities and No. 53 among national universities
overall;
- UMCP's Robert H. Smith School of Business climbed
four spots to No. 17 on list of the best undergraduate business programs
nationally, with several Top 10 specialties, including management
information systems (No. 5), supply chain management/logistics (No. 8),
and entrepreneurship (No. 9);
- UMCP's A. James Clark School of Engineering
ranked No. 21 on list of best undergraduate engineering schools
nationally, with its aerospace engineering specialty at No. 9 in the
nation;
- University of Maryland Eastern Shore ranked No. 27 among the nation's historically
black colleges and universities;
- Salisbury University ranked No. 7 and Towson University No. 8 among
Top Public Universities-Master's category (North).
