Board of Regents to Meet September 5 at UMBI's Center of Marine Biotechnology
ADELPHI, Md. (August 29, 2008) - The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will convene on Friday, September 5, 2008,
at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute's Center of Marine
Biotechnology (COMB) on Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The public meeting will begin
at 8:30 a.m. in the center's
auditorium.
During the meeting, the board will honor the 2008 recipients of the
Board of Regents Staff Awards.
Action items before the board include:
- Resolution
regarding the ballot question of video lottery terminals;
- By-laws
change to establish a new standing committee on advancement.
In addition to reports from the councils of university system presidents,
faculty, staff, and students, the Hon. Marvin Mandel will present the report of
the regents' campus safety and security workgroup in preparation for adopting a
new board policy on campus emergency planning, preparedness, and response.
