USM Board of Regents to Meet October 17 at Coppin State University
ADELPHI, Md. (October 13, 2008) - The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will convene on Friday, October 17, 2008,
at Coppin State University (CSU). The public meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Room 509 of
the Health and Human Services Building. The meeting will be followed by an
executive session of the board at 11:30 a.m.
Information items before the board include:
- Follow-up on
issues in intercollegiate athletics: plans to eradicate negative fund
balances at Bowie State University, CSU, and University of Maryland, Baltimore County;
- Grant from
the National Science Foundation for the Minority Student Pipeline Math
Science Partnership project;
- University
of Maryland Biotechnology Institute 2007-2017 facilities master plan update;
- Review of
capital improvements projects across the system.
In addition to reports from the councils of university system presidents,
faculty, staff, and students, Regent Orlan Johnson will report on recent
activities of the committee on organization and compensation; Regent Barry
Gossett will report on the committee on advancement; and Regent Michael Gill
will report on the technology transfer work group.
