USM Board of Regents Meeting to be Dial-In Only Format on Feb. 12

Adelphi, Md. (Feb. 11, 2010) - Due to unprecedented snowfall levels in central Maryland and storm-related recovery efforts, the public session of the February 12 meeting of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will be conducted exclusively via dial-in, listen-only format.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. 

The meeting initially was scheduled to be held at the University of Baltimore.

Action items before the regents include:

  • Proposals for several new academic programs, including a Bachelor of Fine Arts and modification of the B.S. in Art & Design at Towson University; B.A. in Environmental Sustainability and Human Ecology at University of Baltimore; and a B.S. in Cybersecurity at University of Maryland University College;
  • A vote on maintaining the current USM Exempt Salary Structures. Given current economic conditions in Maryland and USM budget constraints, USM Chancellor William E. Brit Kirwan recommends that current exempt staff salary structures remain in place;
  • Renovation of the Student and Faculty Service Center at University of Maryland University College.

The regents also will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students.
After the public meeting, the board will meet in executive session.
