Cassie Motz

Catherine "Cassie" Motz is the Executive Director of the CollegeBound Foundation in Baltimore. Prior to joining CollegeBound in January 2014, Cassie was a Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Martin O'Malley. She also served as Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor O'Malley and as the Interim Director of the Governor's Office for Children.

Cassie graduated from Dartmouth College and Yale Law School. Between college and law school, Cassie taught at a public middle school in the South Bronx, New York through Teach for America. After graduating from law school and clerking for U.S. District Judge James Robertson in Washington, DC, Cassie practiced law for several years in Washington. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, she prosecuted homicide and domestic violence cases and argued appellate cases in federal and local courts. She later served as a Deputy Attorney General for the District of Columbia government, representing the city's child welfare and mental health agencies. Born and raised in Baltimore City and a current City resident, Cassie serves as Board President of Baltimore Outreach Services, a homeless shelter and job-training program for women, and as Board Secretary for the KIPP Baltimore schools. Cassie has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Law and serves on the UMBC Public Policy External Advisory Board.
