STEVEN HERSHKOWITZ

Steven Hershkowitz is a master's candidate at the University of Maryland,
College Park (UMCP) in the School of Public Policy with a specialization in
education policy. In May of 2012, he graduated from UMCP with a bachelor's
in Government and Politics and a minor in Philosophy. As an undergraduate,
Hershkowitz was a President's Scholarship Recipient, and a member of several
programs including Federal Semester, Beyond the Classroom, and College Park
Scholars, where he won the Outstanding Achievement Award for the Media, Self,
and Society citation class of 2010. For the 2011-2012 academic year, he served
as the Student Government Association's Chief of Staff, and participated in
various university committees including the New Student Welcome Planning
Committee and the College Park City-University Partnership Education Committee.
He also served as the undergraduate student member of UMCP's 2011-2012 Provost
Search Committee. Hershkowitz has interned for Congressman Steve Israel (NY-02),
the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and the Elie Wiesel Foundation for
