USM Office Unites to Support Maryland Book Bank
The University System of Maryland Office (USMO) is proud to participate in the 2016 Day to Serve, Governor Larry Hogan's initiative that grants state employees paid leave to take part in a volunteer activity of their choosing.
For the second consecutive year, the USMO will support the initiative by collecting books to donate to the Maryland Book Bank, a Baltimore-based nonprofit that distributes free books to children, teachers, schools, and organizations in Maryland. Between September 10 and October 10, 2016, the office aims to collect 1,200 books — a 20 percent increase over its 2015 goal.
USMO staff members are encouraged to donate gently used books, cash, and/or gift cards to book sellers in support of this effort. Wilma Ogburn, executive assistant to the USM Board of Regents, will coordinate donations.
