University System of Maryland Student Council
Officer Interest Form for
2026-2027 Academic Year

The University System of Maryland Student Council (USMSC) is one of four councils established during the restructuring of higher education in Maryland in 1988. The USMSC represents the over 175,000 students in the University System of Maryland's 12 institutions and 3 regional higher education centers.

Created to advise the Chancellor, the USMSC derives its authority from the Board of Regents. The primary function of the USMSC is to advise the Chancellor, Board of Regents, and elected officials on issues, matters, and policies having a direct bearing on students and student affairs in the USM.

The General Body of the Council consists of the presidents of the graduate and undergraduate student governments at each USM institution or regional center. The Council is led by an elected Executive Board (President; Vice President for Graduate Affairs; Vice President for Undergraduate Affairs) and an appointed Board of Directors (for communications and marketing; governmental relations; student affairs; and diversity, equity, and inclusion).

If you are interested in nominating yourself for a position, please complete the information below.

Elections will take place virtually during the USMSC meeting on Sunday, May 3rd from 10am-1pm. Those interested in running for President, Vice President for Undergraduate Affairs, or Vice President for Graduate Affairs must be present at the meeting. Those interested in director positions are welcome to attend, but since those positions are appointed, your attendance at the meeting is not mandatory.

We will allow nominations from the floor, but we appreciate your completion of this form, so we know who is running for various positions.

All officers (elected and appointed) must be enrolled in a USM institution for all of the 2026-2027 school year and be in good standing. We will check this for all who are elected or are choosing to interview for a director position. If you know you will not be enrolled the entire year or that you are not or will not be in good academic or disciplinary standing, please do not apply.
