Global Engagement Advisory Council

Bringing the World to the USM

To advance the USM’s commitment to international education, the USM has established a Global Engagement Advisory Council, which includes the senior international officers and directors of USM institutions who are engaged with international students and global learning and exchange programs. The Council advises USM leaders on opportunities to expand and invigorate global engagement across the system.

Purpose of USM Global Engagement Advisory Council

  • Elevate the profile of USM as an international leader in global education, research, and service by documenting and sharing the renowned global programs at each of the universities.
  • Elevate the importance and voice of international education within USM and its critical role in developing the next generation of global leaders and fostering peace and social reconciliation.
  • Serve as a collective voice for advocacy within the system and outside of the system on state and federal matters. Leverage system power on important matters such as immigration reform.
  • Establish critical linkages and interdependent successes between diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and international education.
  • Unite USM schools around common messaging, as pertains to international education.
  • Articulate the connections between global activities and local impact.
