ADELPHI, Md. (April 15, 2008) - On Friday, April 11, 2008, the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents recognized the winners of the 2007-2008 Regents' Faculty Awards during its meeting at USM Hagerstown. Seventeen USM faculty members were honored for their professional accomplishments in the areas of teaching; research, scholarship, and creative activity; mentoring; public service; and collaboration.

"These individuals exemplify the faculty talent, innovation, and dedication that make our system and our universities among the best in the nation," said Clifford M. Kendall, chairman of the board. "We salute their accomplishments and are very pleased to recognize them through this annual award."

Established in 1995, the Faculty Awards are the highest honors presented to USM faculty by the Board of Regents. Candidates for the awards are reviewed and selected by the Council of University System Faculty and approved by the board. Each award recipient receives $1,000 and a plaque of recognition for the honor.
