Purpose of Position
Working out of the Comptroller’s Office, this position provides accounting support to three USM offices: the Maryland Center for Computing Education (MCCE), the USM Department of Information Technology (USM-IT), and the Maryland Research and Education Network (MDREN).
Responsibilities
Provides accounting and recordkeeping services to MCCE, MDREN, and the Information Technology Office. Duties performed include the following:
- Reviews, pays, and tracks invoices. Resolves any billing issues.
- Maintains accounting records.
- Conducts financial reporting.
- Works with the Comptroller’s accounting staff to reconcile monthly statements for incoming/outgoing funds.
Percentage of time spent between the units is as follows:
MCCE: 45%
MDREN: 40%
Information Technology Office: 10%
Assists the Comptroller with other duties as assigned: 5%
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED
Experience: 3 years of clerical accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good written and oral communication skills. Organized, detailed oriented. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: AA or Bachelors Degree in Accounting
Experience: Experience with KUALI/Workday or similar accounting systems. Previous experience at UMCP or other USM institution.
