Associate Director of Articulation & Enrollment Services
Purpose of Position
The Associate Director facilitates the smooth enrollment of new and transfer students at the USM institutions.
Responsibilities
Articulation System for Maryland Colleges and Universities (ARTSYS), Enrollment, and Articulation:
- Supports the ARTSYS Product and Project Manager with the implementation of the new ARTSYS system.
- Provides ARTSYS training sessions to institutional staff across the state.
- Coordinates with all Maryland community colleges’ transfer coordinators and other relevant leaders for the participation of USM institutions in virtual and in-person recruitment fairs.
- Assists in marketing ARTSYS through the transfer fairs and potentially other venues.
- Serves as the programmatic lead for the annual Statewide Enrollment Management Professionals Day, which provides professional development for staff at all Maryland higher education institutions.
- Participates in enrollment management affinity groups; helps shape meeting agendas; creates archives of related records; updates affinity groups on relevant USM activities and policies; and may be delegated by the Director to moderate discussions of the area leaders from the various USM institutions.
- Represents USM on statewide committees that include leaders from other segments.

Event Support:
- Serves as the coordinator for Inter-Institutional Committee (ICC) retreats and in-person meetings, while also playing a key role in agenda preparation and delivery of content, facilitating discussions etc.
- Coordinates preparation for activities related to the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars And Admissions Officers (AACRAO), and other professional organizations whose missions intersect with that of the unity.

Scholarships
- Participates in the development and use of rubrics and criteria for implementing scholarship programs according to donor and Board charges.
- Assists with any inter-institutional coordination needed for implementing the awards.

Enrollment Workgroup
- Works directly with Regents to schedule, set timelines for, and distribute materials for Enrollment Workgroup meetings and events.
- May take notes at Workgroup meetings for the use of staff to ensure that action items are executed in follow-up.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education Level/Certifications:
|
Bachelor’s degree
|
Required Experience:
|
Five years of successful university or college administrative or academic professional setting experience within admissions, records and registration, and/or academic advising. Experience with transfer enrollment and articulation.
|
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
|
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability and enthusiasm for working collaboratively.
- Excellent judgment with respect to when to demonstrate initiative and exercise independent judgment to resolve issues and when to bring issues to others in the unit.
- Ability to recognize barriers to student success and to analyze the context to identify potential solutions.
- Skill in the use of MS Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to travel to participate in in-person events.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education Level/Certifications:
Master’s degree

Preferred Experience:
|
Experience at a Maryland public institution working with transfer students in an administrative capacity.
|
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of transfer policies in Maryland.
- Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to Maryland higher education.
- Skill in the use of MS SharePoint, Forms, and Teams.

FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: FT
Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 per year
Benefits: Exempt Benefits Summary: includes full medical, dental and vision benefits, tuition remission at any of the 12 USM institutions, a generous leave plan, and the option to telework for part of the week.
