Facilities Manager

DUTIES: The System Office of the University System of Maryland (USM)
invites applications for the regular, exempt position of Facilities Manager.
The facilities manager coordinates all building and grounds maintenance to
assure an environmentally safe working facility, especially maintenance of
ventilation equipment. Additionally, the facilities manager is responsible
for designing and preparing layouts of office space and coordinating moves
with outside contractors for changes within the Elkins Building and at
satellite locations. Other responsibilities include building security
operations, coordinating mail and courier services, major equipment and
furniture acquisition and installation, building vehicles, parking area,
issuance of parking permits, custodial services, and shipping and receiving.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a field
related to one or more of the areas within Administration and Finance. Five
years of previous facilities management experience is highly desirable.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to operate
a desktop computer with familiarity in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email are
required. The ability to safely handle, lift, and carry bulky items up to
70 lbs. and install a variety of furniture and equipment, including
electrical equipment is needed.
